Fabric and Care Guide

Care Begins With The Garment Label

Fabric names describe a weave, texture, or finish; they do not always identify fiber composition. Check the product description and care label for the exact material. An outfit may combine different fabrics and embellishments, so follow the most delicate component’s instructions.

Understanding Common Fabrics

Chiffon and organza: lightweight, sheer fabrics that can snag. Avoid rough jewelry and sharp accessories. Embellished pieces generally need specialist cleaning.

Silk and raw silk: protect from moisture, strong sunlight, and friction. Use a cleaner experienced with silk and embroidery when professional cleaning is specified.

Velvet: avoid crushing the pile, direct ironing, and heavy pressure. Store with support and ask a specialist about cleaning.

Cotton and lawn: plain, washable pieces may be suitable for gentle washing only when the care label permits it. Embroidery, linings, dyes, or trims can change the required care.

Washing And Professional Cleaning

Do not bleach, soak, wring, or tumble-dry delicate embroidered garments. Where hand washing is expressly allowed, use cool water and a mild detergent, wash separately, and dry in shade. For bridalwear, zari, beadwork, sequins, or mixed materials, show the complete garment to a specialist cleaner.

Pressing Zari And Sequins

Never place a hot iron directly on embroidery, metallic thread, beads, or sequins. Follow the label’s temperature limit. Press from the reverse through a clean cloth, test an inconspicuous area, and avoid pressure. Some embellishments can melt or discolor even at low heat.

Storing Your Outfit

Make sure the garment is clean and completely dry. Fold heavily embroidered pieces with acid-free tissue supporting the folds. Use breathable storage in a cool, dry place. Avoid prolonged sunlight and long-term plastic storage. Hanging a heavy embellished garment can stretch the shoulders.

Loose Threads And Snags

Do not pull loose embroidery or trim it without advice. Send us a clear photograph so we can help you assess the next step. Contact eshalpreet@gmail.com for garment-specific care questions.
